Development and Communications Manager
Reporting to: Executive Director
Hours: 32+ hours a week
Job Level: Grid Level 13 – starting wage of $24.11/per hour

Position Summary:
The Development and Communications Manager is responsible for the planning and implementation of development and communications activities of the organization that support: revenue development, development programming, donor stewardship, events implementations, branding consistency, messaging ownership and management of budgets and volunteers.
Specific Responsibilities:
Development Management
- Leadership of the development program
- Create, manage, implement and monitor the annual giving direct mail campaigns
- Create and implement fundraising stewardship and planned giving programs
- Partaking in the planning and support of fundraising-related appointments, special events, meetings etc.
- Research, write and submit grant applications
- Create and implement effective and efficient systems/processes and ensure execution
- Train and supervise volunteers in development activities, events etc. as required.
- Create AV Fund Development Committee meeting agendas, attend meetings and document outcomes
- Create and update/revise the fundraising Case for Support and other support materials
Donor Relations
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance communications with donors/potential donors/patients
- Develop cultivation strategies, including current donors, manage relationships
- Cultivate relationships with current donors through written and verbal communications, ensure are communications are tracked
- Develop and oversee policies and procedures to safeguard the integrity of the donor database and ensure that all data reporting and acknowledgement are performed in a timely fashion
- Oversee and ensure accurate maintenance of donor records and tracking
- Mentor the Donor Relations Coordinator and/or other development support to ensure successful completion of development department responsibilities.
Event Management
- Develop an annual Donor Recognition event, providing staff leadership ensuring the successful execution of all tasks involved, manage event team and delegate tasks
- Co-plan positioning and fundraising ask at events
Communications Activities
- Aids in the consistent development of branding and marketing collateral for programs and events
- Contributes feedback and input into the marketing plan that integrates with strategic development plan,
- Acts as the lead point person for all communications messaging internally or externally
Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in relating field (must be either Journalism/English/Fundraising)
- 2+ years experience and demonstrated success in a fundraising role
- Tangible experience in ASO (AIDS Service Organization) sector
