How to Apply

Requirements

1. Must be 19 years of age or older
2. Have legal immigration status in Canada; i.e. resident, citizen or student visa
3. Be willing to make a 6 month to 1 year commitment to volunteering, position dependent
4. Must be willing to complete a criminal records search if required by a position

How do I apply and get involved?

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please complete the following steps:

1. Make sure you meet our above requirements (age, commitment and immigration status).
2. Check to see which opportunities best match your current interests, skills or reasons for volunteering.
3. Make sure your available time matches the availability needs of your position(s).
4. If you would like to apply, print out the application form and complete it. (If you are unable to print out the form, call us at 604-696-4660 leave your complete name and address and we will send it by mail.)
5. If you are applying for Care Teams, please also print and complete two General Reference Forms and one Family/Friend Reference Form. Ask your references to complete them and mail or fax them to us.
6. Please mail or fax in your completed form(s) to:

7. Wait for us to call. Once Volunteer Resources has received your completed application, we will contact you to set up an interview.

If you are interested in a practicum placement or internship, please complete the following steps:

1. Make sure you meet our above requirements (age, commitment and immigration status).
2. Check to see if any our volunteer opportunities or agency areas of programs and services match your current interests, skills and area of practicum requirement.
3. Contact the Volunteer Resources directly at 604-696-4660 to discuss the potential for a practicum placement. The placement must satisfy a current agency vacancy as well as fulfill the practicum requirement.
4. If a practicum placement is identified and secured, please complete and submit the practicum application form, a current resume and required or supporting documents from your academic institute.
5. Once Volunteer Resources has received your completed application, we will contact you to set up an interview and provide instructions for next steps.
